The queen room is stylish and unique. Its location close to the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake is good. It is found in a shopping area.

It's location.
Small room. The inn is jaded, could do with freshening-up, including the gardens, which are a totally wasted facility. Food and wine too expensive. Though we'd reserved dinner, we had to eat in the breakfast "corridor", which was cold and totally lacking in atmosphere. They had too many locals booked in. Service was very poor, especially at breakfast. A half hour wait for a cold plate continental, as the single chef was too busy cooking for the hot breakfast "upgrade" customers, of which we counted two.Toilet roll ran out during the night, and no spares were provided. Bath/shower surface was not non-slip, and was therefore dangerous. Four other inns we stayed at were much better, at half the price.

The restaurant offers fine cuisine and the breakfast was also good. There is a wonderful garden and a short walk to the lake. The place has a nice center with many restaurants and shops.
The whole house needs more care and should be renovated. Our room was only superficially cleaned. The bathroom door could not be closed properly and the windows could only be opened by force. Claim of the house and condition do not match. The air conditioner was old and noisy.

The simplicity and location.
Minor nitpicking - but the wood is aging.

Staying at the Charles Inn was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it highly. The staff was courteous and well experienced. We had dinner in the dining room and the food and service were absolutely incredible. Breakfast the following morning was excellent as well. Look forward to staying again.
The only minor problem was the noisy room air conditioner.(We were in room #9)

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The room was well appointed and very clean. Really like the radio/CD/sound machine with the nature sounds! Good location on main street.
The bathroom was a bit cramped and awkward. Each guest room is unique so this isn't a problem in all the rooms.

Our room was superbly clean and welcoming. We loved the bath tub and fireplace. We also thoroughly enjoyed our continental breakfast and the proximity of the main street.
The only negative experience was during our second nights stay. We could not control the temperature of the room to make it cooler. We slept in 84 degree heat!!!! It was horrible. If that had happened on our first night without resolve we may have left. This is the only nwgative experience....everything else was amazing!
